Room

Since I didn't have to go in to work, I spent the day putting together these wire cube thingys to provide more storage space in my room, and in moving the bed (well, I did that last night)

The cubes and hatboxes in the wire cubey things are all currently empty, but I expect I'll stuff socks and undies and things like that into them. The shoji screen is behind the bed solely because the cat has taken to sharpening her claws on it, so it needs to be protected. The bookshelf to the left needs to be found a new home. I'd really like to get two more shorty bookshelves and put them behind the bed head, to make a sort of headboard with shelves in it, and to get a frame of some sort for the bed to raise it up to provide more storage space udnerneath - ideally I'd like a platform bed, but so far all the ones I've seen in my price range would look stupid with a mattress *and* a box spring on it, and that box spring was way too expensive for me to get rid of it.

ETA: You know, I wonder if I could move the bookshelf thingy (it's one of those that lean against the wall) to behind the bed head and how would it work as a headboard-type thing? I'd have to see if the cat would take to jumping off of it on top of me during the night, though, because that would not be fun.

I am an expert at intending to do things and not actually doing them. I'm actually sleeping on an air mattress these days; I got it for moving and then never got around to buying a real one. And now I keep thinking, "Well, I'll be moving again in less than two years--do I really need to buy a mattress now?"

Because I am not only lazy: I am also cheap. :)

I slept on an air mattress for a year before moving here and buying the mattress - I had a futon, which was great until I hurt my back. And I discovered that blowing up the air mattress I owned and putting it on top of the futon made my back feel much better, so I did that. :D I had no job at the time, so couldn't afford a better bed.

I just put the leaning bookshelf behind the bed instead of the shoji screen - it fits nicely, and I think it'll look good once I load it with stuff. The lamp won't fit on it, though, so currently it and the butler's tray it sits on are crammed next to the bed. I have a floor lamp in the living room that I'm not using in there - maybe I'll move it into the bedroom. But it requires I buy light bulbs first - I have cannibalized all its bulbs for other lamps.
