telophase: (Near - que?)
Anyone who reads Japanese on right now?

If so, could you go to this page on Kazuya Minekura's website and let me know what, if anything, it says about her doujinshi days? If I've got it right, Studio Backgammon was her doujinshi circle, and they released stuff including, I think, the original doujinshi that Saiyuki was. Confirmation or busting of that would be quite, quite welcome. :D

(This will be posted to [livejournal.com profile] whatwasthatbook eventually, but the moderation queue is full since the community was featured on the LJ front page recently. I figured I'd post it here on the off chance it strikes a bell with any of you.)

I read this book during the fall of 1991, from the public library in the Welsh city where I was spending a semester abroad for college. I have no idea when it was published, although I want to say significantly earlier than 1991, or if it was published outside the UK. I associate pink with the cover, but I could be seriously wrong about that.

It was set in a small village in the English countryside, with no specific time period other than mid-20th-century that I can recall. In it, a woman living in the village wrote a book about a similar small village, with characters based on people in her village. In the book-within-the-book, a faun- or satyr-type creature playing panpipes came out of the woods and went through the village, sparking changes in the characters and their relationships. The book this was published in ended up acting in the same way on the people of the village as they learned about it, read it, and speculated who the author was (she'd used a pseudonym, I seem to remember).

Huh.

Seems removing the faulty RAM stick has fixed the problem where my computer rebooted Windows every time I removed my camera from it. Weird.

In other news: new haircut! Pictures ... at some point!
telophase: (raito - 40 seconds bitch)
...and a couple of pictures of the cat.

(This entry is to collate the various links I've collected around LJ about Saiyuki, so I have one place to point people to in one of my Tpop columns. Feel free to add others in the comments.)

Many of these links will contain spoilers. Browse at your own risk. )
